“To know HIM and to make HIM known”- this phrase in a nutshell easily sums up the life and ministry of Cynthia Yancey AKA Joy Melody. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Joy was raised in Philadelphia, PA. Joy cultivated her hunger for musical performance and ministry within various praise and worship teams, school musicals and ensembles. Her studies in Operatic History and Jazz Performance further broadened her horizons concerning music and vocal training. Joy received her Master's in Social Work. It is this educational background, as well as her own personal Haitian descent, that has nourished her awareness of cultural differences and enhanced her desire to present a God that is accessible and attainable to all ethnic backgrounds.

Joy has carried a message of God’s unconditional love and restoration in the various community centers, shelters and schools she has worked in while ministering to the practical needs offamilies and children. She further developed her love for children by working with children in the mental health arena as a Behavioral Specialist and Administrator. As a mother of a child diagnosed with Autism, she understands firsthand the struggles of having a child with Special Needs, and trusting God for his destiny.

Joy was ordained as an Elder at True Love Church in 2017. She embraces preaching and teaching the Word of God which empowers and enlightens God’s people.

This transcribes to a melodious, prophetic sound that echoes throughout her music and ministry. To Joy, her music not only speaks life to the individual, but also brings peace and restorationto the heart. Her testimony is one that exudes victory and overcoming challenges. If God could deliver her, Joy believes her God can and will deliver anyone.

Joy is married to the love of her life, Jamar Yancey. They have a blended family of seven children and they currently reside in Philadelphia, PA.
